Thank you for purchasing a Barkow glass/stone carrier. With proper care, your glass/stone carrier should give you many years of dependabie service. Please read the following instructions carefully before you begin installation.
Hardware
3/8″ x 3″ hex head bolts (quantity 8)
3/B” x 5″ hex head bolts (quantity 2)
3/8″ x 2-/zhex head bolts (quantity 3)
3/8″ large washers (quantity 8)
3/B” small washers (quantity 26)
3/8″ lock washers (quantity 13)

Step 1 – Remove rack from slider
The 400 Slide Out Glass/Stone Carrier will be delivered assembled. After removing the carrier from the crate, you will need to unbolt the 5 bolts that secure the rack to the slider (do not discard bolts). Lift the rack straight up and out of the slider.
Step 2 – Position slider inside of vehicle
Position the slider inside of the vehicle so that the red knob is facing out (toward the rear of vehicle). Verify that the carrier will fit (and slide) in the desired position. Double check height and door clearance. Slowly extend the slider to the out position by pulling the red knob towards you. Place a counter weight on the frame of the slider to prevent the slider from tipping out of your vehicle. Mark the location of the 8 pre drilled holes in the frame of the slider. These 8 holes are used to secure the slider to your vehicle.
Step 3 – Verify hole location underneath the vehicle
DANGER!!! Verify that the 8 hole locations will not inbrtere with the gas tank, electricalwires, brake lines, etc. Double check every hole location for adequate clearance before drilling holes.
Step 4 – Shim the slider (optional)
We have included 8 rubber wedge shims with your carrier. These shims may be needed to shim, raise or level the slider depending on your vehicle. We suggest placing shims directly underneath the pre drilled holes, so that when the bolts are inserted, the shims will be bolted in place. You may skip this step if you feel your vehicle does not need them.
Step 5 – Attach slider to vehicle
After double checking the hole placement and clearance, use a25lo4″ drill bit to drill holes all the way through the bed of the vehicle (and shims, if applicable). Use the 3″ bolts provided to mount the slider securely to the bed of the vehicle. Put a small washer on the bolt, then insert the bolt through the slider and the bed. Go underneath the vehicle and caulk around the bolt to prevent any water intrusion. Thread a large washer, smallwasher, lock washer and nut onto the bolt and tighten securely. Repeat this process for each hole.
Step 6 – Attach rack to slider
lnsert the rack into the slider tray and use the 5 bolts that were removed in Step 1 to reattach the rack to the slider. Tighten bolts securely. Verify that the carrier slides in and out as intended, and that it locks in place securely. Your Barkow 400 Slide Out Glass/Stone Carrier is now successfully installed and ready for use.
